Pictures of my previous car, an '86 Trans Am

These page is dedicated to my old 1986 Trans Am Daily driver as it undergoes changes to turn it into a Pro-Touring example of my automotive abilities. The car will eventually have an unusual engine combination and tons of subtle custom touches throughout. I've been driving it daily for the last two years and the time has finally come to start the makeover. See the list of factory options here. Stay tuned as pictures will pop up as soon as I can resize them each to make some thumbnail images!!

Engine Bay Pics!

These are pics of a CAI I threw together. They're 3" mild steel mandrel bends painted with gloss black engine paint. Also seen are the SLP siamesed runners that have been port matched to the base. Don't be so excited... It's only a 305 that's still basically stock. Bleh!

Coming soon is a 335 stroker with a converted LT1 intake that will be able to run with the distributor and EFI setup from the TPI. For more info on this type of swap, check out http://www.lt1intake.com. I've put my own parts together by watching EBay like a hawk for well over a year and have spent about $120 total on parts. I should get at least double that money for my SLP runners TPI setup and have more power to boot!!!

Interior Pics

I stripped the interior pretty much out of the car and found no rust at all, amazing for a car that has lived all of it's life in the midwest!!!

These are the factory seats that have been recovered with an aftermarket Hampton Vinyl upolstry kit from Hawks Third Gen online. I purchased them in two tone (cost option) with perforated titainium color inserts with ebony outers. The seats are suprisingly easy to recover, though the fit of the covers could have been a bit better. After sitting in the sun for a while over summer the fit has definetly improved though. My advise is to get some extra 1/4" closed cell foam and have it on hand to build up the bolsters a bit to make the fit better while simutainiously adding support. I plan on redoing them again to add the foam/support 19 year old seats require.

I also dyed the stock gray door panels black to match. I used Duplicolor interior dye in a spray can and it's a bit to shiney for my tastes. I'll be adding a dull coat to it with a rubberized drying agent to give it a better finish.
